Last month, the British Benevolent Fund, a Spain-based charity that provides financial assistance to those in extreme difficulty with no other resources, celebrated its centenary at the residence of the British Ambassador in Madrid.
british benevolent fundThe charity is completely run by unpaid volunteers who over the last century have assisted 1000s of individuals who have found themselves with nowhere to turn due to ill health, bereavement, domestic abuse and extreme poverty.
Their work and support to the international community in Spain is invaluable, and has touched the lives of many expats in Spain.
AIL Madrid has collaborated with the British Benevolent FundThe work of the British Benevolent Fund and their support to the international community in Spain is invaluable. They have touched the lives of countless expatriates who, at one point or another, needed a safe haven in foreign lands. The empathy and dedication of the organization have created a human bridge that connects people from different backgrounds and cultures, proving that solidarity knows no borders.
As well as offering a free 4 week Spanish course in the raffle, AIL made a donation of 400€ to the BBF coffers which will help the charity continue supporting expats in need.  The event was attended by our Director Chris Haworth and Martin Leng-Smith, the Student Care Team Manager.

In summary, the centenary of the British Benevolent Fund is not just a milestone in time but a reminder that the power of compassion and community support can overcome any obstacle. Here in Spain, this organization has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many, and we eagerly await what the next century will bring in terms of unity, solidarity, and love.

This participation represents another milestone in our ongoing commitment since we achieved the Socially Responsible ELE School Certificate seal. We are excited to continue collaborating in future social projects and will share more details about them in upcoming blogs.
