What to visit around Madrid?

Alcala de Henares Visit Alcalá de Henares: declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this is a town with a very important role in the history of Spain and in our country’s literature, as this is the town where Miguel de Cervantes was born. If you want to visit the town during Cervantes week, it is without doubt a great option, as the festivities in this town are great fun. What’s more, the old quarter of the town and its cobbled streets, as well as the local museums will surprise you.

his is one of the prettiest villages in Spain, just half an hour from the city centre. Also, if you’re looking for things to do with children in Madrid, this could be a great option. Go to Segovia: Segovia is one of the most charming cities in Spain. Its impressive cathedral and Alcazar will not leave you indifferent. What’s more, the city of Segovia is full of legends and interesting stories that you’ll be eager to learn about. Day trip to Toledo: Toledo is a city that you have to visit, the fact is that it is very close to Madrid and it is really worth it. The cultural richness of Toledo is immense, but without a doubt, the Alcázar of Toledo, the Synagogue of Santa María and the Cathedral of Toledo are our favourite visits. Also, if you are an art lover, you can visit the El Greco museum, which is really worth a visit.

We almost forgot! Another reason to visit Toledo is to try its delicious gastronomy: suckling pig, partridge, migas, or gazpacho manchego, are dishes that you have to try if you visit this city with so much charm.

Moreover, thanks to the proximity between the two cities, a trip to Toledo is practically a bus ride away, there are no excuses!
