Hello! I hope you’ve had a great start to the new year and that you’re enjoying this festive season to the fullest. I don’t know if it’s the same for you as it is for me, but every time Christmas Eve comes around I feel nostalgic because Christmas is over. But when I think that when Christmas is over, the January sales start, I get very happy.

In Spain the January sales have already started and they come at the perfect time because sometimes Santa Claus or the Three Wise Men haven’t got the presents right. That’s why, after Christmas, we go to the shop crossing our fingers hoping to find what we had on our wish list. And if, thanks to the sales, we can buy them at a discount, it’s even better.

If you want to know everything about the sales in Spain, read on because I am going to tell you everything you need to know about the sales season in Madrid.

When do the sales start?

Today! So, if you are in Madrid because you are studying at the University, turism, or you have come here to learn Spanish, don’t wait any longer and go to the sales in Madrid. Don’t wait any longer and go to the shops because great discounts are waiting for you.

Do sales in Spain start later than in other parts of Europe?

Yes, although some brands start their sales on the 2nd of January, the brands of the Inditex group: Zara, Massimo Dutti, Oysho or Pull & Bear wait until the 7th of January to open their sales in their shops. Are the sales in shop or online better?

This decision depends on each one of us.  The truth is that going shopping in Madrid is a fantastic plan to spend some time with friends, walk around Madrid and enjoy the city centre. If you feel like going to the sales with your friends, you can take the opportunity to visit some of the most emblematic places in Madrid, such as Plaza de España, Plaza de Callao or Plaza de Colón. Very close to these places, you will find the most popular shops in Madrid and, moreover, in the sales season, with the best prices.

What can I buy during the sales?

All the shops have sales, so you can find almost anything: from electronics, cosmetics, clothes or electrical appliances. If you’ve been looking for an ebook to download to learn Spanish and make your New Year’s resolution come true, now is the time!

How long do they last?

It depends on the shops, but you can usually enjoy the sales in Madrid until the end of February, so you have plenty of time!

I hope this mini guide to the sales has helped you and that you can do your best sales shopping this weekend.

See you next week!

Maria
